We met at regents park at 6-30 am and went to find our manager for the day. He straight away had us unloading the lorry full of goody bags and stuff for the runners times 5000, then shifting all the goodie bags medals and drinks into sections which were to be the finishing funels. Trouble was he did not take well to work himself but in true scouting spirit we got on with it and did the task in hand.
We could not get a hot drink until gone 9am when we finaly got some breakfast as well and had a break until the race began at 11am.
Sunday we met again at 6-30 this time with a crew from the 201st only there was seven of us we did the same job again as the Saturday crew except for the exceptional dancing from Debbie and Janet. One lone Explorer scout was there as well.
the finish was the highlight of the day we got to present all the medals and goody bags and the drink to those wonderful ladies who did their bit to raise the much needed money to beat the dreaded 'C'. Some of these ladies were cancer sufferers but determined to finish the 10k race. The first runner came in at 19 minutes. The honour of presenting the medals to them was great i thoroughly enjoyed myself i hope the rest of you all did as well. it was really hard work but worth every second.
It was great fun really and we all had a good laugh whilst flying the district flag. A big thank you to Sadie and Fiona supporters of the 11th and Tracey and Alan Smith also from the 11th Cheryl Parker, Dawn Calder and me Mark Darlow all from the 201st for the Saturday and Janet, Sandra, Debbie, Sam, Martin, Mathew and Dawn and myself again for Sunday. You all worked very hard and I hope the end of the race and being a part of the event made it worthwhile.
Thank You
